There is a lot of press about CHAT GPT, or maybe it’s not “press” but HYPE. Probably both.

Without getting too technical, CHAT GPT funded by Microsoft and BARD from Google provide a new search engine interface. Instead of search results showing a list of links to other websites, the new CHAT BOTs answer your search in the form of “dialog”. The results are supposed to be more in a conversational dialog similar to how a real human may answer your question.

The first search on the right from Google.com for “Great Coffee” displays these results. (Notice they are mostly PAID ADVERTISING.)

Typing the same “Great Coffee” as the search words in CHAT GPT provides the response in the second picture on the right.

CHAT GPT can’t answer the search words because it is not in, let’s call it conversational language. A human wouldn’t walk up to another human and just speak the words – “great coffee”. A real human wouldn’t understand what you meant either.

But if you ask the question “what makes great coffee”, a question a real human could would answer, you get the third response on the right.

In a nutshell, CHAT BOT’s attempt to turn your question into a conversation instead of links to other sites.

There is a big difference between these two – traditional searches and CHAT searches.
